## How to read the climate figures for Palma

Every figure on this page comes from the Palma, Puerto station of AEMET, the state weather agency. It sits 3 metres above sea level at the port of Palma and covers the period 1981 to 2010. These are thirty-year averages, not a forecast. AEMET counts a rainy day as a day with 1 mm or more of precipitation. A single May can be wetter, or an October drier, than the average.
The values describe the coast near Palma. In the [Serra de Tramuntana](https://mallorcaplaner.com/tramuntana/) winters are colder and wetter, and brief snow on Puig Major is not unusual. Sea temperatures are not part of this AEMET table, so none are quoted here.

## Spring in Mallorca: March to May

In March Palma reaches a mean 17.2 °C by day and 9.6 °C at night, with 28 mm of rain and 205 hours of sunshine. April brings 19.2 °C, 39 mm and 237 hours of sun. In May the figures are 22.5 °C, 36 mm over an average of 3.6 rainy days, and 284 hours of sunshine.

If you want to go [hiking](https://mallorcaplaner.com/hiking/) or see the [villages](https://mallorcaplaner.com/towns-and-villages/), April and May are a good choice. Swimming in spring is for the hardy.
